With Easter holiday approaching, Tokyo Disneyland is gearing up with new shows to celebrate the festive season and has also dressed its iconic characters in fresh outfits. However, some hardcore fans took to social media, expressing heartbreak after seeing Mickey and Minnie’s new appearances in advertisements—claiming the change completely shattered their hearts. Other netizens, however, questioned what exactly was different about their looks before and after.

You can compare the differences by looking at the photos taken during the 2018 Christmas season below. Upon closer inspection, you’ll notice that the “old” Mickey and Minnie had larger, rounder eyes, with Minnie wearing red lipstick and blue eyeshadow. Their mouths were also wider, with smiles resembling triangles.

After donning their new looks, Mickey now has narrower, more elongated eyes with smaller pupils, while Minnie is makeup-free. Both characters’ faces appear slightly rounder, with more pronounced, mouse-like lips and deeper dimples.
