Itinerary in the Maldives
After arriving at Malé International Airport, there are two ways to reach your island: speedboat or seaplane.
Note: The airport and the capital city Malé are on different islands. So if you arrive at the Maldives airport late at night, it’s recommended to stay on the airport island for convenience. Otherwise, if your hotel is on Malé Island, you’ll need to take a speedboat there and then return to the airport island the next day.
Advantages of speedboats: No time restrictions, usually allowing you to reach the island on the same day; for islands farther from the airport, you’ll need to take a seaplane, but seaplanes do not operate at night. Therefore, flights arriving in the afternoon usually require an overnight stay before you can reach the island (the seaplane terminal is on the same island as the international airport).
