With winter vacation already underway and the Lunar New Year approaching, how can you make the best travel plans for the 2010 New Year? The Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications specially recommends 23 high-quality sightseeing and amusement venues across Taiwan, allowing the public to enjoy fun and safe travels while avoiding the crowds of overseas travel. Major theme parks are also offering a variety of winter vacation promotions and festive activities, where you can have fun and also receive lucky red envelopes—making for an exciting FUN Winter Vacation indeed!
Among the winter vacation events at various theme parks, the northern area’s Baxian Coast presents “Tang Dynasty New Year’s Performances and Shadow Dance Festivities,” featuring international-level traditional art performances, magic shows, and folk markets; Yehliu Ocean World allows you to download discount coupons, with a 2-person ticket for just NT$599; Little People’s Kingdom Theme Park unveils the world’s only Doraemon Ferris wheel, along with a newly revamped song-and-dance show; Leofoo Village Theme Park’s “JOY HIGH – Non-Stop Fun” offers student discounts of NT$530 and special entry at NT$450 for those entering at 1:00 PM, plus acrobatics, fireworks, and water dance performances; Doraemon Science Theme Park offers tickets at a discounted NT$320 and throws in a voucher of equal value that can be redeemed for merchandise; Wanray Forest Park invites you to enjoy a “FUN Winter Vacation Forest Bath,” staying in forest cabins and taking part in outdoor forest activities.
In central Taiwan, West Lake Resort’s “Happiness 99+” features a total of NT$1.58 million in New Year red envelopes being given out, along with cartoon mascots to bring back fond memories; Shangri-La Amusement Park presents “The Supreme Magic Show of Gods and Ghosts,” inviting master magicians to perform large-scale illusions, as well as a new version of the Legend of the White Snake; Huoyanshan Hot Spring Amusement Area gives out Tiger Year fortune bags along with the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon acrobatic performance; Moon World Amusement Park announces “The Magical Magic Academy Has Opened,” with magical performances taking place throughout the park; Taiwan Folk Village presents “2010 Thousand-Hand Blessings VS Grand Performance,” featuring circus and acrobatic acts from the Philippines and Ghana; Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village celebrates the “2010 Sun Moon Lake Aboriginal Cherry Blossom Festival,” combining the Sun Moon Lake Cable Car ride with a night cherry blossom and lavender show, and offering a special price of NT$490 before February 13; Tayal Resort offers a “2010 Tayal Cherry Blossom Romance” with an NT$250 entry discount and open-air hot spring soaking; Shoufeng Forest Recreation Area presents “Flower Viewing and Welcoming the Dawn,” featuring a tulip flower season and camellia exhibition, along with sunrise viewing; E-Da Theme Park allows children under 12 to enter for free.
In southern Taiwan, Wild Animal World presents the “2010 Magical Animal Expo,” featuring a variety of rare birds on display, with a chance to win ostrich tea eggs; Chiansi Pi Jiangnan Resort’s “Spring Radiance in Jiangnan” sells 6,688 value-packed lucky bags, with a chance to stay for free in the top-tier Villa Zuiyue Pavilion; Eight Great Forests Amusement Park hosts the “Fairy Fortune-Telling Carnival,” gathering nine types of fairy fortune tests and energy experiences, plus European and Asian acrobatics and Southeast Asian variety shows; Daruo View Theme Park offers free entry for children under 12 when accompanied by parents, and a group deal where one child goes free when four students come together; Little Kenting Resort’s “Warm Happiness Package” gives you a hot spring coupon and health soup with your stay; the eastern area’s Yuanli Marine Park presents “Flowers of the Sea, Endless Fun,” featuring joyful aquatic shows, fish voting for prizes, and Valentine’s Day fireworks displays.
To create a festive atmosphere full of New Year blessings, the Tourism Bureau has coordinated with theme parks to jointly launch a red envelope promotion. During the Lunar New Year period, visitors to theme parks have the chance to receive lucky red envelope gifts. The 23 theme parks are offering prizes such as souvenirs, vouchers, accommodation certificates, and entrance tickets. On February 1, a new pricing system for children's tickets will also be implemented.
