Taipei Travel Expo Kicks Off on 520 – Up to 68% Off Domestic Accommodation & 65% Off Meal Vouchers

The 2016 Taipei International Tourism Expo is scheduled to take place from May 20 to 23 at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1, with a total of 460 exhibitors participating. Known as the largest summer travel expo, the Taipei International Tourism Expo mainly features travel products for summer vacation and autumn getaways. This year’s domestic travel offerings focus on family-friendly trips and island water activities. Taiwanese hotel stays are discounted up to 68%, and there are also special deals on hotel meal vouchers and children’s theme parks.

The Taipei International Tourism Expo will host tourism bureaus from various countries, as well as airline companies, branded hotels such as Grand Hyatt and Okura Prestige, and over 40 travel agencies. For accommodation, The Westin Tashee Resort in Taoyuan’s Daxi offers a 65% discount, with rooms starting from an average of NT$4,999; The Victoria Hotel has discounts starting from 62%, E-DA World from 67%, and other hotels including Fullon Hotels and Resorts and Yangmingshan Tianlai Resort are also offering special expo deals.

For meal vouchers, Grand Hyatt offers discounts starting from 35%, Okura Prestige from 60%, Fook Lam Ming Hotel from 70%, Shanghai Village from 50%, and Red Bean Family Restaurant has a 23% discount. For family travelers, both E-DA World and Lihpao Land are offering family packages.

For travelers planning domestic trips, EasyCard Travel offers a package including Lanyang Ocean Park plus a round-trip ticket on the Taiwan Circle Star train for NT$1,590 for a one-day tour; Leofoo Village also has a deal for round-trip transportation plus admission to both its water and amusement parks for NT$999; Lihpao Land offers a couple’s Moonlight Ticket at a discounted price of NT$199 (original: NT$598), along with options such as Green Island for NT$1,799 and Kinmen for NT$2,999.

Wu Chih-chien, chairman of the Taipei City Travel Agents Association, stated that this year there are 460 exhibitors and 1,200 booths, with 42% being domestic travel operators. In addition to discounts, the expo will also feature events such as airline ticket raffles. The 2015 expo attracted 280,000 visitors, and this year’s turnout is expected to surpass 300,000.
