Chenggong Township is home to the most spectacular coastal landscape in Taitung County. To the east is the Pacific Ocean, abundant in marine life, and to the west it borders the scenic Coastal Mountain Range. With the Kuroshio Current of the Pacific passing through, the area is incredibly rich in fishing resources and serves as the largest marine fishing center along the East Coast and Huadong region. Due to the booming fishing industry, Chenggong Township has become a hub for those working in fisheries, making it the most populated town on the East Coast. The area is known for natural attractions such as Shiyusan (Stone Umbrella), Sanxiantai, and Rainbow Waterfall, while cultural sites include Seaside Park, Xingang Fishing Port, and Baishoulian Riverside Park—offering a rich and diverse variety of experiences.

The Sanxiantai Dawn Welcoming event entered its second year this time, featuring performances by Slovakia’s Bruno the Clown-shaped balloon, Britain and France’s Owl and Baby Owl balloons, Taiwan’s Cow balloon, and Crayon balloon. These were accompanied by performances from the Taitung Malan Polyphonic Youth Choir and the African Crab Hand Drum Group from New Taipei City. Amid the sound of waves, participants enjoyed the freshness of nature and witnessed Taitung’s hot air balloons going global.
The richness of marine resources has fostered the development of Xingang Fishing Port.
As the largest fishing port in eastern Taiwan, Xingang Fishing Port faces the Pacific Ocean and lies along the routes of both the Kuroshio and Oyashio currents, as well as cold currents, resulting in abundant aquatic resources. Key fish species here include skipjack tuna, bonito, albacore, and yellowfin tuna—all specialties of the township. Due to natural environmental constraints and budget limitations, there is a lack of high-quality fishing ports along the coast, though existing ones include Xiaogang Fishing Port, Jigou Wharf, and Chengbei Fishing Port.

Chenggong Flower Sea is located at the 107.5 km mark of Provincial Highway 11 and spans 1.2 hectares. The Chenggong Township Farmers’ Association noted that they also offer DIY agritourism activities such as latte art with coffee, skipjack tuna ball making, and papaya nougat making—all of which travelers can book to experience.
