Taiwan has never lacked Japanese-style yakiniku (grilled meat) restaurants, with all-you-can-eat chains found everywhere. To stand out in this competitive market, aside from high quality and excellent service, creating a talking point is also crucial. Launched by the Xianyou Group, the Japanese yakiniku restaurant YakiKing specializes in top-grade M9+ Australian Wagyu. In addition to à la carte options, they recently introduced a “One Cow for Two” set menu, offering 12 cuts from beef tongue to beef hind leg in one satisfying meal.
The 12 cuts in the One Cow for Two set, from front to back, are: thick-cut beef tongue, wing flap, fore shank, flat iron, tendon meat, triangle meat, beef skirt, fan meat, diaphragm, center rib, sirloin cap, and hind leg. Restaurant manager KEN explained that there are actually over 30 different parts on a single Wagyu cow, and this new set menu selects the 12 most popular cuts. Future offerings may be adjusted based on customer feedback. Since some cuts are quite small, only six portions of the One Cow for Two set are available per day. This is a seasonal limited menu, available until around July.

Additionally, YakiKing has recently introduced business lunches for nearby residents and office workers. Options include the Ultimate Grilled Wagyu Set (NT$780), Grilled Select Wagyu Set (NT$680), Premium Double Yakiniku Meal (NT$480), and Premium Pork Platter (NT$480). Among these, the most unique is the Ultimate Grilled Wagyu Set, which features Kyoto-style grilled beef tongue — inspired by Sendai’s famous grilled beef tongue. The tongue is first marinated in Kyoto miso and sake lees for three days, resulting in an exceptionally tender and springy texture after aging.

YakiKing offers full table-side grilling service. Manager KEN said that the general recommended doneness is medium-rare to medium (3–5), but adjustments are made according to the cut. Generally, fattier cuts are grilled to around medium. Of course, guests can also grill their own meat if they prefer. Additionally, the table setup includes truffle salt, fleur de sel, rose salt, seaweed salt, as well as a special dipping sauce. Aside from specific recommendations for certain cuts, most guests can choose their preferred seasoning based on personal taste.
