Even Taipei residents can enjoy the fun of canoeing ! The Tamsui River offers a variety of water activities. From September 11 to October 31, the third free canoeing experience will be held every Saturday and Sunday at HeShuang No. 21 Park, allowing participants to embrace nature and making it a great family-friendly activity to foster bonding !
The Tamsui River basin holds precious memories and cultural assets for Taipei residents. In recent years, the Taipei City Government has actively promoted various water-based activities, creating vibrant waterfront recreational spaces. Canoeing, which is easy to learn, not only allows people to enjoy the riverside scenery by bike on land but also lets them immerse themselves in the water.
Unlike previous years, this year’s third edition of the Taipei Citizens’ Canoeing Experience has moved to HeShuang No. 21 Park on Zhoumei Street. The event runs from September 11 to October 31, over 16 days (every Saturday and Sunday), with 8 sessions per day from 9 AM to 5 PM. Each 1-hour session accommodates 50 participants, offering a total of 6,400 free spots for those interested in canoeing.
HeShuang No. 21 Park is located on a high triangular riverbank where Taipei’s Beitou Outer Xikou and Huangxi streams converge into the Keelung River. It is most famous for sunset views, often visited by locals for walks and exercise, making it a popular green space.
