According to President Chain Store, for example, the New Year’s parade and fireworks event held at Dream Mall in Kaohsiung attracted over 600,000 participants last year. This year, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of China, the company has spent over six months planning. From store consumer promotions to the lineup of performers for the parade and evening party, even the fireworks show features entirely new concepts, aiming to deliver a refreshing experience for the public. Moreover, two days of star-studded performances are arranged to take everyone down memory lane with classic hits from the past century.
The fifth-annual “OPEN YOUR DREAM” New Year balloon parade carnival, in addition to popular character balloons from within the group such as the OPEN family, COCO Bird from Watsons, Pote the Lion from Mister Donut, Cool and Snowy Cats from Black Cat Delivery... also welcomes new members including Doraemon, SpongeBob SquarePants, The Powerpuff Girls, BEN 10, Thomas the Tank Engine, Mayday’s Ashin from STAYREAL as a Batman mouse, and Thunderbolt Puppet Show’s Su Zhenchan, among other popular cartoon icons. With 25 large balloons and over 200 performance groups, it aims to challenge the record for the largest balloon parade in Asia’s history.

The New Year’s fireworks show, “Thunder OPEN Light, Music & Fireworks Spectacular,” is designed as a visual and auditory feast integrating “music, lights, and fireworks.” On the day, Thunderbolt Puppet Show characters will walk through the audience, including popular protagonists like Su Zhenchan performing aerial martial arts acts, launching fireworks mid-air to kick off the 211-second spectacular fireworks display, counting down the New Year with the audience. Additionally, over NT$500,000 in prizes are prepared, inviting both live and TV audiences to participate in SMS text message activities to join in the celebration.
