The 2019 Earth Hour event launched on March 30. This year, O'right hosted Taiwan's Earth Hour lights-out campaign and, for the first time, collaborated with Taipei MRT to launch the "Earth Hour 3D Painted Train." The sense of crisis brought by melting glaciers was brought to life on the second carriage of the MRT, allowing passengers to truly feel the severe consequences of global warming while commuting.

The Earth Hour event originated in 2007 when the World Wildlife Fund initiated this global environmental public welfare campaign in Sydney, Australia. By taking the action of "turning off the lights," it calls on the public to pay attention to climate change issues. Every year on the last Saturday of March, starting at 8:30 PM local time, unnecessary lights are turned off for one hour. In 2019, the lights-out time fell on March 30, with major cities around the world expected to showcase creativity and take real actions to raise awareness about global warming.
In 2019, O'right and Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation jointly created the "Earth Hour 3D Painted Train," which debuted on the Tamsui-Xinyi Line on March 11. The design concept of the 3D painted train centers around global warming, depicting how melting ice layers cause seawater to flood land and polar ice caps to gradually disappear. But the Earth is everyone’s shared home, and people worldwide have a responsibility to confront this issue.
This project also cleverly uses the MRT carriages to express, through 3D designs of melting ice, that the survival of polar bears and other polar animals is under threat, calling on everyone on Earth to do their part to slow global warming and protect the planet.
The "Earth Hour 3D Painted Train" will run until May 30, with approximately 18 round trips daily between Tamsui and Xiangshan stations.
