November is the harvest season for roselle flowers. From November 12 to 20, Taitung County’s Jinfeng Township is hosting a nine-day Roselle Flower Festival series of events. The festival includes five major themes: “Story Performances,” “Exhibitions,” “Product Sales,” “Experience Activities,” and “Carnival Events,” along with bundled activity packages that allow visitors to admire the flowers, taste them, and experience the culture of indigenous villages.

The “Story Performances” primarily integrate performances across the various Roselle Flower Festival events, showcasing the diverse cultural stories and arts of Jinfeng Township. Meanwhile, the “Carnival Events” feature dances and music from Austronesian cultures, highlighting the festive atmosphere of indigenous celebrations. The “Experience Activities” are paired with a series of travel package itineraries, including a Roselle Flower Festival challenge experience where participants can personally harvest and learn how to pickle roselle flowers, as well as visits to the Pottery Jar Street, handmade crafts workshops, listening to tribal chiefs tell stories, and tours of the Sabuyu Tribe.

In addition, the public can also participate in online essay competitions and street mazes, with opportunities to win great prizes such as a two-day, one-night twin package tour to the Hundred Steps Homeland and a cash prize of NT$10,000. The hosting of this Roselle Flower Festival symbolizes the fresh start of Jinfeng Township, which was severely affected by Typhoon Morakot, and allows the public to further appreciate the past, present, and future of Jinfeng Township’s industries.
