The Taipei City Government’s Department of Information Technology and Tourism provided full support to the “Taipei Association of Advertising Agencies (TAAA)” in successfully bidding for the 2015 Asia Advertising Conference. After a ten-year hiatus, Taipei has once again secured the hosting rights, and the event is expected to attract nearly 2,000 advertising professionals from over 20 countries and regions around the world.

The Department of Information Technology and Tourism stated that the Asia Advertising Conference is an important international platform for the advertising industry. Held biennially, it allows delegates from different countries to share the latest trends and engage in discussions through forums, keeping up with global advertising developments. Hosting the conference in Taipei in 2015 will not only generate significant tourism benefits but also serve as an opportunity to showcase Taiwan’s cutting-edge technology industries (such as the application of advertising in tech products) to the world. The impact is expected to create a triple-win situation for Taiwan’s cultural creativity, tourism, and technology-related sectors.
Director Zhao Xinpeng said that the convention and exhibition industry greatly enhances Taipei’s overall image and tourism benefits. To effectively attract MICE events to Taipei, the Department of Information Technology and Tourism offers a one-stop service window and provides administrative assistance required by the MICE industry at various stages (bidding, preparation, and hosting). All sectors are welcome to apply for MICE sponsorship to host international conferences, exhibitions, and international travel events in Taipei.

For applications in the coming year (2012), the sponsorship amount has been increased from NT$500,000 to NT$1 million. Moreover, for those applicants who secure the hosting rights during the “bidding stage” of an international conference, a maximum of NT$300,000 in substantive sponsorship may be granted. Relevant regulations and application forms can be downloaded from the Department of Information Technology and Tourism website (www.tpedoit.taipei.gov.tw), and submissions must be completed by November 30, 2011. For inquiries, please call the Taipei Citizen Hotline 1999 (02-27208889 for other cities) and transfer to extension 3370.
