The snack-famous city of Tainan is hosting the 2011 Tainan Dim Sum Festival from now until December 31 (Saturday). The event gathers 362 food vendors, offering a wide array of delicacies, along with activities like the “Slow Food Stamp Rally,” the “Top-Rated Food Vendor Vote,” and more. In response to the nationwide trend of checking in on social media, it also introduces the “48-Hour Foodie Check-In Challenge.” Participants can snap photos of their meals, upload them to Facebook, and be among the fastest to finish meals at 16 vendors within 48 hours to win a cash prize of NT$10,000.

Those who want to savor their food more mindfully can join the “Slow Food Stamp Rally.” Simply visit any of the 8 designated food zones participating in the event, spend NT$50 to earn one stamp, and collect 10 stamps to enter the lucky draw. Prizes include over 200 items such as DSLR cameras and laptops. Stamp vouchers can be collected at six Tainan City Tourist Service Centers, the Guiren Cultural Center, Yongkang District Social Education Center, and train station tourist centers across various counties and cities. They can also be printed directly via ibon at 7-Eleven stores nationwide.

Additionally, while enjoying their meals, participants can also support their favorite food vendors. All stamps collected during the event will count toward the first-ever “Tainan’s Top 10 Most Popular Food Vendors” vote. Historic Tainan, recognized as one of Taiwan’s must-visit destinations in the Michelin Green Guide, is also the birthplace of many iconic snacks. This event lets everyone enjoy great food while exploring all that Greater Tainan has to offer.
