With the British Trade and Cultural Office launching the “Youth Mobility Scheme” (YMS) in Taiwan on January 1, 2012, why not head to London, dive straight into Olympic jobs, watch the games, and enjoy a holiday—all in one go?

The globally anticipated sporting events—the Olympics and Paralympics—will kick off in London, UK, in July and late August 2012 respectively. Organizers have been making extensive preparations, both in infrastructure and services, to cater to athletes, delegations, spectators, and tourists from around the world... As a result, a huge workforce is needed to fill roles including ticketing, venue preparation, cleaning staff, opening and closing ceremonies, catering and kitchen services, goods delivery, engineering and technical support... It is expected to offer over 100,000 paid job opportunities. Those with relevant experience or interest can visit the website to learn about job responsibilities, duties, schedules, and more. The site also provides services such as resume creation and job application email setup to help secure suitable positions.

The “Youth Mobility Scheme” is open to Taiwanese aged 18–30, allowing them to live, work, or study in the UK (excluding professional athletes, coaches, intern doctors, company founders, or those investing over £5,000 in equipment). The visa is valid for up to two years, with multiple entries permitted during this period. The British Trade and Cultural Office will issue up to 1,000 such visas annually to eligible Taiwanese. Applicants must first apply to the National Youth Commission for a “Certificate of Sponsorship,” which is required for the visa application. The first phase of applications to the National Youth Commission ends at 5:00 PM on December 20. If any slots remain unused after the first phase, the second phase will be open from 10:00 AM on May 1, 2012, to 5:00 PM on May 20, 2012.
