From this year’s Christmas holiday to next year’s spring break (2011/12/24～2012/4/8), the “2012 Flowers in Taipei – Blossoms Reimagined” special exhibition will grandly open at the Taipei Yuanshan Expo’s Blossom Hall, with floral art design as the main theme of the exhibition. It aims to bring joy and happiness to the public through the rich colors, graceful forms, and ingenious arrangements of various flowers. Visitors can also learn how to better utilize flowers to decorate beautiful living environments.

This special exhibition mobilizes nearly a thousand floral designers and uses over a million flowers, paired with a festive New Year atmosphere, presenting nine major themes: “Magic World,” “Flower New Year’s Celebration,” “Flower Fairy Troupe,” “New Year Greetings,” “Dreamland,” “Floating Floral Melodies,” “Orchid Art Shines,” “Flowers and Mythology,” and “Floral Green Space.” These themes will be showcased across ten exhibition periods, rotating in sequence.
For example, the first featured theme, “Magic World,” will feature reindeer pulling sleighs flying overhead, along with a giant 3-meter-tall magic ball, paired with a variety of floral art displays. This allows visitors to experience different Christmas vibes from Northern and Southern Europe, with magicians and street performers adding surprises on-site. Meanwhile, “Flower New Year’s Celebration” will use tens of thousands of popular Phalaenopsis orchids from central and southern Taiwan to create the effect of fireworks bursting, promising a grand and spectacular display. Doeke Faber, President of the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH), who once presided over the Taipei Flower Expo, has made a special trip again from the Netherlands to Taiwan for “Flowers in Taipei.” Mr. Faber was deeply impressed by the grandeur of the previous Taipei Flower Expo. He feels that Taipei has learned to become more beautiful and greener at a remarkable pace. Through this special exhibition, the public can try to bring the beauty of flowers from outdoor appreciation into their living spaces, creating different atmospheres and tastes.
