The year 100 of the Republic of China (2011) was hailed as Taiwan’s “Great Year of Tourism,” with outstanding performances across the tourism, travel, and leisure industries. Coupled with the gradual emergence of Mainland Chinese tourist issues, the prospects for the tourism and leisure sectors have unlimited potential for development. Lion Travel, which recently won the “Contribution to Job Creation Award,” also plans for next year (101, 2012). In addition to recruiting over a hundred outstanding newcomers through its regular campus recruitment briefings, starting from February, it will collaborate with industry and academia at several prestigious universities and colleges including National Chengchi University, Peking University, Yuan Ze University, and National Chi Nan University. After a one-month training period and a three-month pre-employment internship, most students will be able to transition into full-time positions upon graduation, becoming professional tourism talents.

To encourage domestic enterprises to jointly promote employment, support policies aimed at expanding job opportunities, and thereby enhance the nation’s overall competitiveness, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Council of Labor Affairs of the Executive Yuan began hosting the “Contribution to Job Creation Award” at the start of last year. Each quarter, the award recognizes private enterprises or related organizations that have made significant contributions to revitalizing Taiwan’s job market and economic climate. Recognition includes new hiring of special target groups or achieving certain scales and proportions in hiring numbers, contributions and demonstration effects in boosting job creation, or agencies and businesses with exceptional achievements in expanding employment.
A total of 40 companies were selected for recognition in the fourth round of the “Contribution to Job Creation Award” in the 100th year of the Republic of China. The awarded companies span various major industry sectors including consumer goods, information and communications, healthcare, semiconductors, environmental protection, tourism, insurance, security, food and beverage, and wholesale and retail. Among them were Din Tai Fung, Uniqlo, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Far EasTone Telecommunications, Deloitte & Touche, and Lion Travel.
