Recommended by locals in Yilan: “Three Treasures Soup” featuring wontons, fish balls, and pork chops

[Tangcheng Noodles], located on Taishan Road in Yilan City, is not far from[Zhenghao Fresh Meat Xiao Long Bao], yet not many people know about it. Yilan boasts many well-known shredded pork noodles and sesame paste noodles, but [Tangcheng Noodles] seems to have less visibility on food blogs compared to others. However, many locals love the flavors at [Tangcheng Noodles], and the place is always bustling with diners during meal times. In addition to the must-try shredded pork noodles and sesame paste noodles, there’s also the astonishingly delicious “Three Treasures Noodles,” filled with generous portions of tasty ingredients just waiting for you to savor.

Three years ago, a local Yilan netizen left a comment in the article"Shantou Wonton Noodles"recommending that I check out [Tangcheng Noodles].

The netizen also told me:The owner of [Shantou Wonton Noodles]and the owner of [Tangcheng Noodles] were once husband and wife, but after separating, they each went their own way.

Ever since I took her advice, I’ve been to [Tangcheng Noodles] twice. Now, let me share these two delightful dining experiences with you.

[Tangcheng Noodles] mainly serves shredded pork noodles, sesame paste noodles, as well as combinations of wontons, fish balls, and crispy pork chops.

First, of course, let’s introduce the ever-popular shredded pork noodles found all over Yilan. I’ve previously shared reviews ofJingde Shredded Pork Noodles ,Tuobei Noodles,Yixiang Food Store,Fuxing Road Shredded Pork Noodles,Wenchang Road Shredded Pork Noodles... and other famous spots.

While the recipes for shredded pork sauce are mostly similar, careful tasting can reveal the unique style of each shop. The sauce at [Tangcheng] is perfectly seasoned—not too sweet, not too salty.

The same sauce, however, yields very different textures when served with wide or thin noodles. Next time I visit [Tangcheng], I’ll go for the thin noodles.

Sesame paste noodles are also widely loved across Yilan. Currently, my top three favorites are:Yixiang Food Store、Big Face NoodlesandFire Life Noodle Shop.

Many friends love the gentle sesame paste aroma of [Soup City Noodles]’s sesame sauce noodles, but personally, I prefer their Zhajiangmian (noodles with soybean paste).

How could just ordering a bowl of Zhajiangmian or sesame sauce noodles be satisfying? Of course, you have to pair it with a bowl of wonton soup and dry noodles—that’s the perfect match!

Although [Soup City] hassome connection to[Shantou Wonton Noodles],

the wontons here are smaller and have thinner wrappers, which is a unique style of Soup City.

If ordering just a bowl of wonton soup still leaves you feeling hungry, then try this bowl of wonton noodles—the texture of the wontons and the thin noodles is simply harmonious!

What? Still not satisfied with the wonton noodles? Then we have to bring out [Soup City Noodles]’s ultimate hearty dish: the Three Treasures Soup (Noodles)!

This bowl of Three Treasures Soup includes delicate wontons with thin skins and delicious fillings, the fish balls that are a must-try in Yilan, and crispy yet tender fried pork ribs.

The Zhajiangmian and sesame sauce noodles at [Soup City Noodles] may not be particularly outstanding, but their crispy pork ribs—I wholeheartedly recommend them!
