In addition to the Central Taiwan Lantern Festival being held at Taichung’s Chungshan Park, the Fengyuan District Office’s Cultural and Arts Plaza will host an Art Week event from February 3 to February 8. The event will showcase “Dragons Shining Across the World,” a collection of traditional Chinese ink painting lanterns created by nearly 30 artists, standing as tall as a two-story building. From 6 to 9 p.m. each evening during the event, a light and sound show will be performed every half hour. Additionally, there is an ink painting lantern area displaying 120 small hand-held lanterns crafted by artists. Under the large banyan tree, a blessing lantern area offers free blessing cards for visitors to take and hang. Moreover, 500 bowls of hot glutinous rice balls are given out for free each night, allowing visitors to enjoy the lantern displays along with delicious treats.

Six themed exhibitions are also being held on-site, including a lacquer art exhibition by the Taichung Prison Seven Colors Workshop, a Fengyuan vintage photo exhibition, and a pastry cultural relic and gift box exhibition. Every evening, there are also exciting galas with different themes, such as Postal Night, Jazz Night, and Classic Golden Hits. On February 6, the joyful Dragon Lantern Gala will feature a spectacular fireworks display.

The Pastry Carnival invites well-known bakeries from Greater Taichung to participate. The event features 30 booths selling local pastries and sweets. Free raffle tickets are available for visitors to fill out, with prizes including iPads and various pastry gift boxes. Visitors who spend over NT$300 at the booths can receive a limited-edition commemorative lantern hat, while supplies last.
