Riding the wave of NBA star Jeremy Lin’s popularity, Taiwanese travel agencies have started organizing tour groups to head to New York to cheer him on. Lion Travel recently launched an “Easy NYC 8-Day Tour” with a guaranteed departure on March 17, and Phoenix Travel today also announced its new “Let’s Linsanity: Head to NYC to Cheer for Jeremy Lin 7-Day Tour,” including games on March 20 and 21 when the New York Knicks play at Madison Square Garden.

Lion Travel’s limited-edition Easy NYC 8-Day Tour emphasizes round-trip flights on the luxury A380 Airbus, with tour prices starting from NT$39,900. The package includes 5 nights’ accommodation, plus a one-day guided city tour in NYC and a 7-day Metro pass. Compared to the market’s usual 10-day group independent travel package (which includes 2 nights’ accommodation) with an original price starting from NT$53,888, this is almost like getting your flight and accommodation together. A spokesperson from Lion Travel’s PR department said: “After Jeremy Lin’s victory against the Raptors, the number of inquiries has surged nearly fourfold today, and we are not ruling out adding more flight seats.”
Phoenix Travel’s seven-day tour starts from NT$59,900, which includes 5 nights’ accommodation, a five-day MetroCard for New York, and a one-day city tour. Shao Dingqing, vice general manager of the Americas line at Phoenix Travel, said: “This tour can depart with as few as 10 people, and we will also handle ticket bookings for fans for the two New York Knicks games on March 20 and 3/21.”
While the basketball world is caught up in the “Linsanity” craze, those planning to sign up for U.S. tours are reminded to start their U.S. visa application procedures early to ensure a smooth trip!
