The Wilderness Conservation Association and the world’s tallest green building—the Taipei 101 Financial Center—have once again joined forces to support the 2012 "Earth Hour" (Earth Hour) campaign, inviting over 100 major architectural landmarks and corporate buildings across Taiwan to turn off their lights together. On Saturday, March 31, 2012, at 8:30 PM, they aim to create a global energy-saving movement by switching off for one hour.

Since 2005, the Wilderness Conservation Association has been actively promoting the Summer Lights-Out campaign. Taipei 101 voluntarily joined the Earth Hour campaign in 2009, and the Taipei Le Méridien Grand Formosa Hotel is also actively participating in this global lights-out initiative this year. In addition, the National Museum of Natural Science in Taichung, the Guang San Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store, as well as Kaohsiung’s City Light Corridor and Dream Mall will all take part in the event. To date, over 5,200 cities, 138 countries, and 2.2 billion people worldwide have joined the movement.
The Wilderness Conservation Association stated that this year, in addition to aiming for participation from over 100 major landmarks across Taiwan and inviting more than 300 corporate buildings and iconic landscapes to turn off their lights, they are also collaborating with L’Oréal Taiwan to launch a celebrity-led countdown to the lights-out. They have invited notable figures such as [names obscured] to serve as advocates, encouraging everyone to join in the lights-out event from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM on Saturday, March 31.
