The cosplay (costume play) culture originating from Japan has gradually swept across the world. In Japan, the "World Cosplay Summit" (abbreviated as WCS) is held annually, where representative teams from over a dozen countries compete and parade based on Japanese ACG (an abbreviation for Animation, Comic, and Game, referring to animated works, comics, and games). To actively compete for Taiwan’s qualification in the WCS, Leofoo Land and local cosplay enthusiasts formed the "Taiwan Cosplay Art Promotion Association," and have scheduled a WCS warm-up event — the "2012 Taiwan Super Cosplay Festival" (abbreviated as TSCC) — to be held on May 26. The champion will have priority to represent Taiwan at the "2012 World Cosplay Summit" in Japan this July for an exchange and observation trip (the organizers will sponsor a round-trip air ticket and hotel accommodation in Japan for seven days and six nights), while the first and second runners-up will receive a luxurious presidential suite couple tour package (market value NT$70,000) sponsored by Leofoo Prince Hotel, and a deluxe room couple tour package (market value NT$12,000).

Registration for the TSCC event closes on May 10 and is conducted entirely online. The TSCC competition adopts the rules of the "Japan World Cosplay Summit." The registration theme must be based on Japanese manga, anime, video games, or tokusatsu (works with surreal or sci-fi themes). Participation is limited to pairs (must share the same ACG theme). The judging criteria consist of 90% from judges and 10% from audience voting (open to the first 300 audience members for voting). The judging panel includes official reviewers from Nagoya TV in Japan, as well as renowned figures from the industry such as Akuna and Somei M from the Versailles Design Studio, and Hell Butterfly Maru, who previously placed second at the WCS. It is hoped that through the grand staging of each TSCC event, Taiwanese cosplay art can be promoted onto the world stage.
