Ride an iron horse, admire the tung blossoms – head to the New Taipei Hakka Cultural Park on May 12

The 2012 New Taipei event invites visitors to enjoy folk performances, photography, cycling, and immerse themselves in Hakka cultural parks and other charming spots around the region. One of the highlights is the "Low-carbon Hakka Adventure" activity, which will kick off on Saturday, May 12, at 9 AM. Those interested can sign up online before June 6 by paying a registration fee of NT$100. Registered participants will receive a stylish Hakka magic scarf and a NT$150 voucher for food stalls at the event – great value giveaways, limited to 1,000 people.

To encourage the public to enjoy the tung blossoms in diverse ways and engage in healthy, low-carbon leisure activities, the New Taipei City Hakka Affairs Bureau has specially planned a beautiful yet challenging cycling route. Starting from Tucheng Station (Tucheng Elementary School) on the metro, the route ends at the Sanxia Hakka Cultural Park, covering a total distance of 25.3 kilometers. The organizers will set up two rest and supply stations along the way – one at Tucheng Tung Blossom Park, where the blossoms are most abundant, and another in front of the Golden Emperor Restaurant plaza. Participants who reach the finish line will be awarded a "Cycling Completion Certificate." The park also offers a variety of dining options, DIY experiences, and free guided tours. Those who complete all the checkpoints can also join a lucky draw.

A representative from the New Taipei City Bureau stated: "This year’s Low-carbon Hakka Adventure is specially designed to allow participants to explore various regions while enjoying the scenic beauty of tung blossoms. Attendees can not only visit local attractions and learn detailed information about the activities, but also... If they plan their route in advance..."
