Want to try the cupcake that Yu Sheng gave his leading lady as a love token in the idol drama “Love, Now”? Or get hands-on with the makeup brushes that Lan Cheng-long played with in the movie “Pinku Pinku Lovers”? Or perhaps sample the rich pumpkin cheese cake made at Sheng Guang Fruit Shop, the filming location of “The Soul of Bread”? This Saturday and Sunday (4/28, 29) at the grand “Tribute to the Countryside – Taipei Carnival” event on Taipei City Hall Plaza, which will feature a full street closure, you can also find products from over 20 famous film and idol drama shops... including the San Tai Zi dolls from the movie “Koani”, “Miss No Good”, “The Fierce Wife”...... allowing the public to relive and feel the stories just like the show’s protagonists!

Now in its third year, the “Tribute to the Countryside – Taipei Carnival” has gathered 500 vendors, divided into 8 major zones: Baking, Digital Life, Cultural Creativity, Specialty Dining, Beauty & Fashion, Non-store Retail, Health & Wellness, and local specialty products (OTOP) representing each township. These include top ten gift shops from various counties and cities such as: Zheng Dao Di Steamed Salty Cake, Mi Shi Ti Dessert Kingdom, Keelung Quan Li Rice Crackers......; well-known tourist factories such as Wei Ge Pastry, Xing Long Towel Tourist Factory, Xi He Third Generation......; local specialty workshops such as A Jin Jie Workshop, which produces pesticide-free handmade goods and is also a partner of Mos Burger; and also special goods from post-Typhoon Morakot reconstruction areas, such as the Namasia Township Green Plum Vinegar made in the only surviving fermentation jars from the disaster, and the mountain ginger brown sugar handmade by community mothers from Sister Yu......
On Saturday (4/28) at 3:40 pm, there will be a performance and charity sale by sweet idol Angela Wang, and at 6 pm, the “Living Fossil of Sound” – the Bunun tribe’s Eight-Part Harmony singing – will perform. They are planning to go to Yushan this September to sing their heavenly melodies and apply for UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage status, so the public can enjoy it here first and give them encouragement. On Sunday (4/29) at 1:00 pm, Show Lo will also come to the event to perform.

The event runs from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm on 4/28, and from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on 4/29. During this period, spend NT$500 to join the “Five Blessings Full Amount Purchase” lucky draw. The more you spend, the more chances to win, with possible prizes including an iPad2, gold foil skincare products, five-star hotel vouchers, and shopping vouchers worth NT$10,000. Foreign visitors can enter the lucky draw once extra upon showing their passport, in addition to the regular spending-based draw. There will also be fun activities such as the National Guessing King, QR code check-ins for mobile scratch cards, the “You Come Crazy” basketball game, and filling out surveys for free gifts.
