Beyond the usual festive feasts, Mother’s Day now has a new option. The “Big Hands, Little Hands, Jujube Fun” event, jointly organized by the Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan, and the Gongguan Township Farmers’ Association in Miaoli County, will take place on May 12–13, running four sessions in total. Both adults and children can explore the insect world together, listen to the story of the oldest mother jujube tree, taste fragrant steamed jujube treats, and even make smooth and tender jujube jelly. Registration is now open.

Miaoli County’s Gongguan Township is Taiwan’s one and only jujube producing region. Rich in protein, vitamins, and carbohydrates, jujubes offer excellent antioxidant benefits. This Mother’s Day, bring your family to Gongguan to admire the jujube blossoms, hear the story of the oldest mother jujube tree, try your hand at DIY jujube jelly, and dine at the theme restaurant “Haokefang,” renovated from an old farmers’ association warehouse, where you can enjoy water|?⑹止ぢ辄斓惹崾沉侠怼＜/p>

Additionally, the event’s fun parent-child guided tours will lead families to explore rhinoceros beetles and stag beetles, witnessing how the insect world’s strongmen and bulldozers show off their energy. There will also be delightful performances such as fireflies carrying lanterns and silkworms spinning silk into clothes—giving children an up-close interactive experience with insect ecology and the wonders of nature.
