Kaohsiung's tourism industry is developing rapidly, with many locations in the city becoming filming spots for domestic movies. Although Dashu District in Kaohsiung may not be as well-known to tourists as districts like Qijin or Gushan, when it comes to the scenic beauty of the Gaoping River Old Iron Bridge Wetlands Park and the sunset at the cable-stayed bridge, it’s sure to get railway enthusiasts and fans of golden hour photography excited. With the Phoenix Lychee Cultural Tourism Festival set to kick off at the end of May, the Dashu District holiday sightseeing bus will begin service on May 19th. Operating on weekends and national holidays, it offers free rides that allow the public to explore local culture and historic sites in depth. The service includes guided tours with expert commentary and complimentary tastings of local agricultural specialties, showcasing the ecological beauty and cultural charm of Dashu District in full.

The Dashu District Holiday Sightseeing and Guided Bus offers free rides from May 19th to August 19th. It features two formats: “On-site Personalized Guided Tours” and “Onboard Commentary Guided Tours.” The personalized on-site guided tours require reservations and combine cultural industries, historical landmarks, and tourist attractions. Not only do they feature guides from local historical and cultural associations who provide insights into regional history and culture, but they also include complimentary tastings of local specialty foods. Passengers can board at either Dadong Station (Dadong Arts and Culture Center) on the MRT or Jioujiutang Station on the TRA. Along the route, visitors can enjoy sights such as the Cao Gong Old Irrigation Canal Five-Arch Water Gate, the Old Iron Bridge Wetlands Park, the Sanhe Tile Kiln, Zhuliao Mountain Sightseeing Winery, and the Fo Guang Shan Buddha Memorial Center, and will also get a glimpse of Asia’s longest and the world’s second-longest single-tower cable-stayed bridge.
The “On-site Personalized Guided Tours” of the holiday sightseeing guided bus operate twice daily on weekends and national holidays — at 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM — departing from Kaohsiung MRT Dadong Station. The “Onboard Commentary Guided Tours” run every 20 minutes from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekends and national holidays.
