In addition to top-tier luxury trains like the "Eurostar" in Europe and the "Rovos Rail" in Africa, Taiwan also has its own top-tier antique trains — the "Imperial Flower Car," "Governor-General Flower Car," and "Presidential Flower Car." Taiwan Railways will open registration for the public to view these national treasures that have entered the annals of railway history on June 7. Registration is only available today (the 4th) from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, at the Taipei Rolling Stock Depot General Affairs Office. There will be one session in the morning and one in the afternoon, each limited to 70 participants.

As part of the 125th Anniversary of Taiwan Railways celebration and the launch event for the New Era of Taiwan Railways, the public is invited to view the flower cars — trains manufactured in 1904 and 1912 that have been around for a century. The body structure of the flower cars is made from premium hinoki and teak wood, offering superior quality and durability. These are compartment-style carriages featuring a living room, attendant room, bedroom, meeting room, and Western-style washroom, all adorned with lavish furnishings that still retain considerable luster and scent. The compartment partitions are decorated with floral and bird motifs that are strikingly lifelike. The interior also features unique designs such as chrysanthemum-petal-patterned cushions, butterfly-shaped mirrors, and round windows adorned with the “Tai” character motif. The ceiling ventilation windows are inlaid with stained glass, complemented by the unique torpedo-style roof vents — the overall design is truly ingenious.

The Governor-General Flower Car (SA4102) available for viewing was built in 1904 and was exclusively used by the Governor-General of Taiwan during the Japanese colonial period for inspection tours. The Imperial Flower Car (SA4101), completed in 1912, was ridden by Crown Prince Hirohito during his visit to Taiwan in 1923. The
