Exchanging submissions for free travel experiences has become a common way to attract tourists. In response, the Taoyuan County Government held the “2012 North Cross-Island Tourism Festival” and launched the “North Cross-Island Art Tour” — a creative campaign where participants can exchange their talents for free meals and accommodation. From now until June 8, any performance group or individual with up to four members who possesses talent and is willing to take part in live performances during the North Cross-Island Tourism Festival can upload a video of their talent to the event page. Those selected will have the chance to win a 2-day, 1-night free stay and travel package to Lalashan.

Additionally, the event has also planned an essay submission campaign called the “I Love North Cross-Island Dream Plan.” As long as you submit your entry before June 8, themed around “love” — whether it's passion for a hobby, romance, friendship, family bonds, or love for the land and environment — and it can be realized along the North Cross-Island route, you can fill out the registration form and submit your proposal on the event page. Upon selection, complete your proposed plan by July 29 and share a blog post of over 800 words (including 5 or more photos) or a 3-minute travel documentary video on the event page to receive a dream fund of 10,000 yuan.

The North Cross-Island route stretches from Daxi Township to Fuxing Township, featuring numerous well-known attractions such as Cihu, Hou Cihu, Jiaobanshan, the Little Wulai Skywalk, and Lalashan. The area boasts rich tourism resources including butterfly watching, hiking, stargazing, tribal experiences, and fruit picking. It is also the best-preserved of Taiwan’s three cross-island highways and attracts large numbers of visitors every holiday.
