Due to heavy rainfall, parts of Alishan Highway have been partially closed. Considering visitor safety, the Alishan Forest Recreation Area under the Chiayi Forest District Office of the Forestry Bureau has remained closed since June 10 until today. The Alishan Forest Railway’s Zhushan Line, as well as the Shenshu and Zhiping shuttle bus services, have also been suspended accordingly. The Chiayi Forest District Office urges visitors not to travel up the mountain to avoid danger. As for the reopening date, it will depend on the weather conditions.

Because of the ongoing impact of strong southwest monsoon rains, rainfall along the Alishan Highway has been continuous. The Alishan National Forest Recreation Area recorded a cumulative rainfall of 510 millimeters in the past 24 hours, exceeding the super heavy rain standard of 350 millimeters. In response to the announcement by the Fifth Maintenance Office of the Directorate General of Highways that Section 66K–88K of Provincial Highway 18 (Alishan Highway) remains under precautionary closure, the Alishan Forest Recreation Area has also announced its closure. The Chiayi Forest District Office urges visitors not to go up the mountain to avoid risks from falling rocks and landslides.
