As midsummer arrives, so does the peak mango season. In India, mango trees are known as "love trees," and mangoes are nicknamed the "fruit of lovers." To blend the romantic tales of the fruit of lovers with the specialty of Tainan’s Yuqing mangoes, the “Romantic Siraya – Summer Love” series will host the “Mango Kiss” contest on June 30 in Yuqing District’s Green Tunnel, Tainan City. Approximately 99 couples, friends, or pairs are expected to participate. Aside from the top prize of ¥10,000, all participants will receive mango ice vouchers and Siraya Enjoyment Cards among other gifts. Registration is now open.

Contestants must pair up, place a mango between their cheeks, and kiss it using only their lips. The top three pairs with the longest kiss time will win prizes ranging from ¥10,000 to ¥3,000. All participants will receive mango vouchers from Youjian Ice Shop, mango beer, fresh Irwin mangoes, commemorative photos, and Siraya Enjoyment Cards. Those who get married within one year of the contest date (by June 30, 2013) will also receive special benefits for a Siraya Scenic Area wedding photo shoot, a three-day-two-night honeymoon package, and a chance to win round-trip international air tickets.

Additionally, over 20 local specialty stalls will be set up at the event. Visitors can join a lucky draw by donating three receipts (from May or June). The event will also collaborate with the Wangming Community Development Association to arrange a mango-picking activity, allowing participants to take home fresh native mangoes for free.
