Children’s favorite dinosaurs will join everyone for summer vacation. The “Earth’s Oldest Dinosaurs Exhibition” is being held at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall from now until September 16. Featuring 80 fossils and models of Triassic-era dinosaurs and other creatures from Argentina, enhanced with computer-generated sound, light, and special effects, the exhibition immerses visitors in a prehistoric world.

All exhibits in the “Earth’s Oldest Dinosaurs Exhibition” come from the Ischigualasto Natural Park in San Juan, Argentina, also known as the “Valley of the Moon.” Located in a vast arid region, the beautiful white and red rock strata create a dreamlike landscape. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000, it has been one of the most popular locations for global dinosaur research over the past two decades.

The “Earth’s Oldest Dinosaurs Exhibition” is the world’s first large-scale special exhibition to fully present the coexistence and competition of three major species — dinosaurs, crocodilians, and mammals — from 230 million years ago. The Japanese NHK ROMOTIONS, responsible for the curation, specially sent professional photographers to Argentina to capture high-definition images of the geological landscape and the painstaking process of archaeologists excavating dinosaur fossils. They also produced exclusive animated films depicting the survival and competition among the three major species at the end of the Triassic period, vividly illustrating the birth and extinction of ancient life forms.
