Last year, Japan and Taiwan signed the Open Sky agreement, making the skies between the two countries much busier. Revival Airlines announced that it will now operate regular flights on the Taipei–Okinawa route starting today, giving travelers an additional option and joining forces with 13 other operators to form Japan PAK’s “Bubble Dragon Holiday,” aiming to offer Taiwanese travelers a more diverse travel market.

Since 2008, Revival Airlines has operated in the Japanese market via chartered flights. Last month, it launched regular flights between Taipei and Osaka, and starting this month on the 1st, it also began services between Taipei and Hokkaido. Currently, its flight network covers over 30 cities across Japan. On the Okinawa route, it serves destinations such as Naha, Ishigaki, and Yonaguni. Among these, the Hualien–Ishigaki route has operated 370 flights, with an average load factor of over 90%. To date, it has served 25,000 passengers traveling between Taiwan and Okinawa.

Okinawa is Japan’s closest territory to Taiwan and is the only one of Japan’s 47 prefectures to have established its own office in Taiwan. Known as the “Hawaii of the East,” this island nation surrounded by sea blends cultures from Taiwan, China, Japan, and the United States, along with the Ryukyu culture inherited from the Ryukyu Kingdom, creating today’s multifaceted Okinawa.
