As summer heats up, music events are kicking off across Taiwan. In northern Taiwan, in addition to the long-running Gongliao Ocean Music Festival, the Guanyin Coastal Recreation Area in Taoyuan County has also joined the lineup, hosting the Taoyuan Hospitality Ocean Music Festival this Saturday and Sunday. The event is divided into a “Local Flavor & Homegrown Night” and an “Earth & Ocean Night,” featuring performances by bands such as Ella, Kou Chou Ching, Chairman, and F.I.R. Flying Band. Additionally, a Rock Music PK competition will be held before the themed nights, allowing visitors to experience the vibrant energy of ocean music right here in Taoyuan.

Taoyuan County’s first “2012 Taoyuan Hospitality Ocean Music Festival,” held on July 6–7, features performances by six bands—including Chairman Band, Ella Band, and Kou Chou Ching Band—on the 6th for the “Local Flavor & Homegrown Night.” On the 7th, the “Earth & Ocean Night” includes five bands such as AGG Band and MATZKA, with F.I.R. Flying Band closing the night. There will also be a lucky draw and an ocean fireworks show on the evening of the 7th, giving attendees a chance to enjoy a summer music night and win prizes.
In addition, the national rock music PK competition, which precedes the themed nights, saw a total of 240 bands sign up. From these, 30 bands—including Zhongli Dog, GUTS Band, and Shen Gun Band—were selected to compete in the preliminary round on the 6th, with 15 bands advancing to the final on the 7th.
