This year, HowToTrip’s Xitou Line is collaborating with the popular Xitou attraction, Monster Village. On August 17, the day of the Hungry Ghost Festival, they will offer a special Monster Bus in sync with the Monster Village’s Monster Carnival. One...buswill be available, and anyone dressed as spooky monsters on the day of the event can ride the HowToTrip Xitou Line bus for free, traveling round-trip between Taichung and Xitou, and join the Ghost Month Monster Parade. Participants will receive limited-edition event souvenirs and dinner that evening. The event is free to join, and registration is now open.

The registration period for the Monster Bus activity runs from now until August 10. Selected participants will take the special bus from Taichung at 1:30 PM on August 17 to Xitou, where the event will kick off at 3:30 PM. First up is the Monster Costume Show, where all costumed participants will compete in a PK contest, with winners receiving prizes such as hotel stay vouchers. This will be followed by the Monster Parade, where the Tengu will be invited to open the gates of the monster realm, unleashing a host of creatures for a night of fun. With all the monsters gathered together, it’s the most lively and mischievous celebration of Ghost Month. In the evening, there will be a Jazz Monster Music Concert, a specially curated musical performance by the “Elegant Latin Jazz Band” for Monster Village, giving visitors a unique Ghost Month experience under the summer night sky.
Xitou is a well-known summer retreat in Taiwan, attracting large numbers of tourists each year who come to escape the heat and enjoy forest bathing. In recent years, Monster Village along HowToTrip’s Xitou Line has become especially popular among young people across Taiwan. With its distinctly Japanese-style streetscape and adorable, entertaining monster characters, it’s currently the most eye-catching attraction in the Xitou area.
