The first season of TLC Travel & Living Channel’s “Bizarre Taiwan Challenge,” which aired to widespread acclaim, will continue its collaboration with the Tourism Bureau, Ministry of Transportation and Communications this year for a second season. This time, from 3,000 applicants, a total of 12 contestants from 7 countries were selected to participate. Over the course of two months, they will travel across Taiwan’s top ten small tourist towns with host Janet, take on challenges both in the mountains and at sea featuring the most uniquely Taiwanese activities, and even visit former military zones to experience devilish military training. The winner will receive a free trip for two to experience Taiwan’s most beautiful sunrise, the most amazing home-style banquet dishes, an epic bike ride through Taroko Gorge, and a paragliding journey over the heaven-like landscapes of Eastern Taiwan and Hualien – all part of the million-dollar “TOP 10 Taiwan Unbelievably Amazing Two-Person Trip.” They will also receive a $10,000 (approximately NT$300,000) shopping voucher.

The second season of “Bizarre Taiwan Challenge” will be filmed between September and November. The iron-willed host Janet will also take contestants to explore ten major small tourist towns and specialty night markets, and take on diverse cultural challenges incorporating Hokkien, Hakka, military dependents’ village, and indigenous elements. After filming, the show will air in over 20 countries including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Australia, reaching an estimated 136 million viewers who will get to see the most authentic side of Taiwan through their screens.

This season’s 12 international contestants include Harvard-educated Taiwanese-American Michael, model duo Jessica and Raquel, Indonesian baking artist Anne, and this season’s youngest contestant, 19-year-old muscular mechanic Scotty, among others. These challengers from different countries and vastly different cultural backgrounds will spend two months deeply experiencing Taiwan’s culture, natural beauty, and most authentic local snacks.
