Star Cruises will invest US$50 million (approximately NT$1.5 billion) to renovate and upgrade the 50,764-ton "Gemini," including upgrading the navigation system, redesigning the hull artwork, and refurbishing various onboard facilities such as cabins, restaurants, entertainment and recreational amenities, retail and beauty services. Additionally, "Gemini" will feature a new luxury duty-free shopping area. The ship is set to commence its inaugural Asian cruise in early 2013.

From April to October 2013, "Gemini" will be seasonally deployed to Shanghai, operating over 30 new cruises ranging from 3-night, 4-day trips to 6-night, 7-day voyages, visiting popular ports of call such as Jeju, Busan, Fukuoka, Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Naha, Ishigaki Island, and Keelung. Star Cruises is applying to relevant authorities for several special sailings from Shanghai and Taiwan based on market demand.
The "Gemini" offers a wide range of onboard facilities including Chinese, Asian, and international dining options, open-air barbecues, performance venues, karaoke, spa and wellness centers, beauty and hair salons, a children's area, and swimming pools to meet guests' dining and entertainment needs. The ship’s 766 cabins can accommodate up to 1,532 passengers, featuring ocean-view rooms, deluxe suites, and executive suites. In addition, the newly added 4,000-square-meter shopping space offers duty-free sales of high-end watches, jewelry, designer handbags, and more.
