This year’s expanded “2012 Changhua Food Festival” will take place on November 18 and December 16, featuring two major events: creating the world’s largest rice ball weighing 700 kg, and hosting a thousand-person rice ball and rice feast, aiming to challenge two Guinness World Records and showcase Changhua’s unique rice-based food culture.

The rice ball event on November 18 at 14:00, to be held at Changhua County Stadium, will feature the making of a 700 kg rice ball—the largest in the world—and attempt to break a Guinness World Record. Meanwhile, there will be an exhibition and sales event for fresh agricultural specialties, along with performances by celebrity kids' TV personalities and local idols from “Flower Young Era.” The rice ball and rice feast event on December 16, also at Changhua County Stadium, will invite a thousand people to Changhua to enjoy rice cooked with premium local grains and delicious rice balls. It will apply for a Guinness World Record for the thousand-person rice ball and rice feast. In addition to offering free tastings of a thousand portions of food, the event will also feature a music concert for attendees.
