Known for its warm sunshine and harbor charm, Kaohsiung is hosting the Winter Exotic Culture & Tourism Season at Sinyi Pier from now until January 31, 2013. Throughout this three-month event, every Saturday, Sunday, and holiday will feature the World United Creative Market, where foreign residents in Taiwan offer handmade bread made with natural German ingredients, Polish handmade cakes, Canadian handcrafted all-natural ice cream, American-style coffee beverages, Russian hand-painted T-shirts, indigenous hand-dyed fabrics, creative handicrafts, Japanese-style sushi and oden, and other international foods and clothing. On the evening of December 31 at 9:00 PM, there will also be a Sinyi Harbor New Year’s Eve Music Festival, allowing the public to enjoy the harbor city's exotic atmosphere.

The event will also feature various musical performances, including live shows by domestic and international bands as well as creative singers. On Friday nights and weekend holidays, these will combine with the scenic waterside views to create a romantic extravaganza of exotic flair, composing a beautiful and melodious soundtrack for Sinyi Pier. Additionally, during the event period, simply make any purchase at the World United Creative Market to receive a “Colorful Kaohsiung – Sinyi Harbor Night Cruise Gastronomic Raffle” lucky draw QR code. A limited number of 100 spots are available, which will be drawn at the Sinyi Harbor New Year’s Eve Tourism Music Festival on December 31. The results will be announced on January 5, 2013, both at the Sinyi Pier event site and on the Facebook page of “PIER 22 Market Place Sinyi Pier.”
Foreign participants volunteering at the World United Creative Market shared that although they may not be the most professional, the food and clothing they provide are guaranteed to be the most authentic representations of their hometowns. This also serves as a form of international tourism and cultural exchange. The event has also partnered with local high schools in the Kaohsiung area to recruit young international cultural exchange volunteers for the World United Holiday Creative Market, who will serve as on-site interpreters for the public and non-Chinese-speaking foreigners.
