Pingtung County boasts rich cultural heritage and abundant local produce, fostering the thriving development of crafts, cuisine, and creative industries. From December 8 to December 16, the Pingtung County Government will hold the "2012 Happy Pingtung – Holiday Creative Market" over two consecutive weekends in Hengchun Township. The event will gather 46 vendors of local delicacies, crafts, and other creative products, as well as 20 specialty shops along Hengchun’s Old Street.

The creative market is organized by Pingnan Community College and the Qiongma Yuan Urban-Rural Cultural and Educational Development Foundation. It includes a variety of offerings such as food and beverages, crafts, clothing, fragrances, and paintings—all handmade products, agricultural specialties, and creations from outstanding studios, artisans, and manufacturers within the county. These include coffee and herbal plants from northern Pingtung, handmade soap, and pork trotter wontons; port tea, pottery, folk music, and specialty foods from southern Pingtung; as well as 46 booths featuring Hakka crafts and foods, and indigenous glass beads and leather carvings. The market also connects with 20 specialty shops along Hengchun Old Street.

During the creative market event, there will also be ethnic music and dance performances, street artist shows, and creative DIY experiences, offering hands-on activities such as plant-dyed fabric tying and dyeing, Hengchun-style pyrography, and fun brick carving. Additionally, to boost sales, the organizers have launched the "Hengchun Gifts Double Giveaway" campaign. From now until December 25, residents who spend over NT$2,000 on receipts or invoices in towns across the Hengchun Peninsula—such as Shizi, Fangshan, Hengchun, Manzhou, and Mudan—or collect 10 “PapaGO Friendly Merchant” stamps from old street shops, can exchange them for raffle tickets to participate in a double lottery draw.
