Ali Mountain Hotel Renovations Complete, Opens to Guests on December 15

The Forestry Bureau aimed to improve the accommodation experience for visitors to the Alishan Forest Recreation Area and, following government policy under the BOT model, had the private Alishan Hotel Co., Ltd. finance and build the new structure of the Alishan Hotel. Thanks to the combined efforts, the project was successfully completed this year (101) and is set to officially open at 10:00 AM on December 15.

Liu Yiguang, Director of the Chiayi Forest District Office under the Forestry Bureau, stated that the Alishan Hotel was built during the Japanese colonial period as a two-story wooden building. At the time, due to inconvenient transportation, it served as lodging for employees conducting business in Alishan. Later, with changes in forestry management and in support of tourism development, it began accommodating tourists. In the 1970s, it was expanded into a six-story reinforced concrete building.

 

In 2003, the Forestry Bureau recognized the aging condition of the building and considered the historical significance of the original Alishan Hotel structures. Under the principles of preservation and maintaining harmony with the original architectural landscape, it planned the renovation, expansion, and operation through ROT and BOT methods. The Alishan Hotel Co., Ltd. was granted the qualification to carry out these projects. The renovated Alishan Hotel now offers 141 rooms and two restaurants for guests to stay and dine. The hotel also features a variety of service facilities including meeting rooms, a café, KTV, a fitness center, a family playroom, and a rooftop garden. Travelers planning to stay at the Alishan Forest Recreation Area are encouraged to make room reservations by calling the Alishan Hotel in advance.
