This year (2013), the Spring Festival holiday spans nine consecutive days. To serve passengers traveling home or on vacation, Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) will increase the number of southbound trains by 159 and northbound trains by 174, totaling 333 additional services, during the transport period from February 7 to February 18, 2013. Over the 12-day period, a total of 1,917 services will be provided, offering 1,895,913 seats. Passengers can start purchasing round-trip tickets for the entire transport period all at once beginning at midnight on January 11.

During the Spring Festival transport period, THSR will continue to offer non-reserved seating. On February 8 and February 17 — peak travel days — the number of non-reserved cars per train will be increased to four. Passengers holding periodical tickets, return tickets, or EasyCard co-branded cards may tap their cards at the station entrance and ride in the non-reserved cars of any service during the transport period. The 45-day validity for return tickets and the 30-day validity for periodical tickets will remain unchanged and will not be extended. The “Standard Carriage Ticket Discount” promotion will also apply during this period. Passengers using designated bank credit cards to pay for tickets via the THSR online booking system can enjoy discounted standard carriage fares through point deductions or fare reductions. In addition, the early bird discount will not be available during the transport period. Other promotions such as limited business class upgrades, college student discounts, graduation trip packages, and THSR package deals will also be suspended.
Passengers may purchase round-trip tickets for the entire transport period all at once via 24-hour convenience store partners of THSR such as FamilyMart, 7-Eleven, Hi-Life, and OK Mart, as well as the online booking system, the “THSR T Express” mobile app, the voice reservation system, or at ticket counters and ticket vending machines at THSR stations during operating hours.
