Nothing beats chilly eats on scorching summer days. When it comes to cooling foods, many think of cold noodles. In addition to dedicated cold noodle shops, many Japanese ramen spots are also rolling out authentic zaru soba and cold stir-fried noodles to beat the heat—no sweaty brows after eating.

Setagaya Ramen’s “Spicy Sauce Cold Noodles”
Setagaya Ramen will launch its seasonal exclusive “Spicy Sauce Cold Noodles” this hot summer, combining a specially crafted spicy sauce with rich pork bone broth, paired with sweet cucumber, shredded egg, and sliced char siu. President Maeshima Tsukasa particularly advocates the benefits of cucumbers and has included them in this new summer item. He noted that cucumbers can be eaten raw, cooked, or pickled, and are widely used in Japanese cuisine—especially refreshing in summer. Available exclusively at Taipei Zhongxiao Store on June 1 and HOYII North Station Store on June 3.

Ramentoya’s Facebook says customers have been asking when cold noodles will be available since April at the Zhongxiao store. This tomato salad sesame cold noodle is exclusive to the Zhongxiao store. Salad ramen is one of Hokkaido’s specialties, featuring romaine, slightly acidic mushroom and eggplant, tomato marinated in Japanese-style bonito sauce, and char siu chunks—all tossed into chilled ramen for a refreshing, healthy, and filling meal.

Santouka’s summer-limited “Sapporo Ramen Salad” and “Chinese Cold Noodles” launched on May 11, initially available at Santouka Kyoto Station Store, Santouka SOGO Tienmu Store, and Santouka Taichung Dayeh Takashimaya Store. Santouka SOGO Fuxing Branch will start selling them on June 1 to align with department store events.
