High-speed rail maintains non-reserved seating during Spring Festival; periodical tickets automatically extended

To provide more ample and convenient travel services during the 2013 Spring Festival holiday, Taiwan High Speed Rail will add 333 extra train services and continue offering non-reserved seating during the peak travel period. At the same time, considering that the Spring Festival holiday lasts for nine days, passengers who hold periodical or periodical-return tickets—most of whom usually travel for commuting or business—are set to have the validity period of their tickets automatically extended by the high-speed rail company. This measure aims to offer ticket holders more flexibility in arranging their travel plans.

Taiwan High Speed Rail stated that for passengers using periodical or periodical-return tickets, if the validity period of their tickets includes all or part of the nine-day Spring Festival holiday from February 9 to February 17, the company will extend the validity period by the number of holidays involved, starting from February 18. Furthermore, passengers with periodical or periodical-return tickets eligible for an extended validity do not need to apply for the extension in person; the ticketing system will automatically calculate the new validity period and update it once the ticket is validated at the gate. Passengers can also check their updated validity period via the “Ride Information Inquiry Machines” in stations or through the “Online Ride Information Inquiry System” on the high-speed rail’s official website.
