The Lantern Festival will be celebrated on February 24th. To draw in visitors, the Kaohsiung Lantern Festival features stunning waterfront light decorations and Taiwan’s only aerial fireworks over the harbor. From now until February 24th, the festival is offering great deals: take a commemorative photo at any of the diverse specialty product booths at True Love Pier, at the “Dios Mio Amazing Light and Sound Theater” on the Railway Bridge, or next to any romantic lantern display along the greenway on Hezhou Road by the Love River, then upload it to the “Kaohsiung Tourism” Facebook fan page to join the “Snap a Photo, Win a Prize” campaign. You could win free accommodation vouchers.

The Kaohsiung Hotel Association, the Kaohsiung Homestay Development Association, and other tourism industry players have joined forces to boost the festival’s popularity by offering various prizes. Those who complete the photo challenge may be among the 25+ winners randomly selected by the tourism bureau, with prizes including free hotel stays in Kaohsiung and gift boxes of local agricultural specialties. Additionally, the top 10 people who rally the most “likes” on their uploaded photos by inviting friends and family to like the post will each receive one homestay voucher.

In addition to the aerial fireworks over the harbor, this year’s Kaohsiung Lantern Festival features highlights such as the “Dios Mio Amazing Light and Sound Theater” on the Railway Bridge, hourly laser and light shows, love-themed balloons along the Love River, the Tree of Love, Willow Warmth and Floral Spring, Starry Moon Companions, and Riding the Waves—various three-dimensional artistic lanterns and international-themed lantern zones. Moreover, the Hongmaogang Cultural and Creative Park has launched a Lantern Festival Fireworks Cruise starting now, allowing visitors to enjoy the harbor city’s waterfront lights in different ways.
