Apart from enjoying the lake views and mountain scenery, sampling delicious snacks, and visiting local attractions at Sun Moon Lake, are there any new ways to experience it? The Sun Moon Lake Characteristic Study Center has invited renowned author Zhang Jiazhen to design a 3-day, 2-night “Leisure Activity ‘Play’ to Develop Language Skills” study tour course. It leads participants in tea-drinking, poetry recitation, painting, and more by the lake, while families engage in activities such as canoeing, learning about the Thao culture, hiking on trails, and rock climbing. Through these diverse and engaging study experiences, parents and children can grow together through play, rediscovering the beauty of life from the heart. Registration for the study tour course is open now until March 28, with the first session running from April 4 to April 6. The inaugural group is limited to 20 participants, with a fee of NT$3,970 per person.

On July 5, 2011, the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration transformed an idle elementary school into the “Sun Moon Lake Characteristic Study Center,” which officially opened and began operations. Tailored to different times such as weekdays, holidays, and school breaks, it offers a variety of customized Sun Moon Lake study tour courses for school groups, families, and institutional visitors. From April 4 to April 6, it will launch a 3-day, 2-night “Leisure Activity ‘Play’ to Develop Language Skills” study tour course. The three-day program themes are “Family Travel Writing — Experiencing Life and Writing with Feeling,” “Family Eco-Exploration Narratives — Enjoying the Joy of Discovery,” and “Family Tea Art Narratives — Listening to What My Heart Has to Say.”

The course content includes parent-child lectures on parenting insights, hands-on and minds-on activities such as DIY Four-Handed Net making with the Thao people, experiencing canoeing as brave adventurers, physical activities like rock climbing to discover new skills, exploring the Shuǐwā Trail to observe the unique features of nature, family creative art exhibitions showcasing artistic thinking and application, and tea meditation sessions that involve savoring tea and discerning colors and flavors on the tip of the tongue. Not only does it use nature as a classroom to foster interactive growth between parents and children in a mountain-and-water-close environment, but it also encourages communication, cooperation, mutual assistance, and knowledge exchange among participants from different families through various themed lectures and experiential activities.
