From March to November each year, Guishan Island is open for island tours. The ongoing "Guishan Island Whale & Island Adventure" event in Yilan runs from now until May 26, inviting visitors whose names contain any of the characters "山 (mountain), 岛 (island), 艳 (gorgeous), 奇 (amazing), 航 (voyage)" to experience a whale-watching ocean tour at half price. Those with the characters "龟 (turtle/island) and 鲸 (whale)" in their names can enjoy a free trip to Guishan Island. As of last Saturday (May 4), the event has finally found the first visitor in the country with the character "鲸 (whale)" in their name—Chen Jingtai from Taipei.

Visitor Chen Jingtai said this was his first time visiting the island. With great weather and calm seas, the whale-watching boat ride felt very comfortable, and he was delighted to see many dolphins leaping around him. When asked why he had such a rare Chinese character "鲸 (whale)" in his name, he said, "My grandfather chose it for me based on my fortune, and I never expected it would bring such good luck today."
The special offers for Guishan Island whale and dolphin watching from now until May 26 include a 3-in-1 package (whale watching, island circumnavigation, and island landing) for just NT$1,200 per person (original price NT$1,600), a 2-in-1 package (whale watching and island circumnavigation) for NT$700 per person (original price NT$1,200), an 800 NT$ 3-in-1 package and 500 NT$ 2-in-1 package for children aged 3–12, and only a NT$300 insurance fee for children under 3.
