This weekend before Qixi Festival, plan a romantic fireworks date. Now in its ninth year, the Dadaocheng Fireworks Festival returns on August 10. This year, the event will spotlight music and has been specially renamed as the 2013 Taipei Dadaocheng "Music" Fireworks Festival. In line with the romantic Valentine’s vibe, the main stage music performances will kick off at 18:00, featuring live bands, singer performances, and exciting jazz music. The fireworks display will take place from 20:30 to 20:50. The event will also include cultural creativity and light food stalls, letting the public enjoy a romantic fireworks-filled evening under melodious tunes.

The 2013 Taipei Dadaocheng Music Fireworks Festival will be held at Yanping Riverside Park and around Dadaocheng Wharf. From 16:30 onwards, side events including food stalls, cultural creativity booths, and family games will start at Parking Lot No. 3. At 18:00, musical performances will begin at the Main Stage near Pier No. 4, featuring Cuban Latin bands and jazz groups. The Sub-Stage at Pier No. 4 will host performances by the Taipei Municipal Symphony Orchestra’s Wind Ensemble starting at 20:50. As for the highly anticipated fireworks, they will be launched between piers 3 to 5 on the Tamsui River, north of Zhongxiao Bridge. The Wind Ensemble will also perform live to accompany the fireworks.
Besides the Dadaocheng Music Fireworks Festival, various related events will also be held in the surrounding Dadaocheng area around Qixi Festival. For example, the Datong District Office will host the “2013 FU Datong – Love Tied by the Moon God Dancing in the Spring Breeze” series from August 3 to 24, including a Moon God Love Dance Competition, Taiwanese Folk Song Concerts, and cultural industry tours. During every Saturday and Sunday in August, the public can join a range of cultural industry tours such as guided walks around Datong, leisure strolls in Dadaocheng, tea tasting in Dadaocheng, and tours of the historic building at Rixin Elementary School to learn more about Datong District.
Additionally, from August 2 to 11, the Taipei Dadaocheng Social Education Center will present captivating traditional art performances, featuring plays by “Minghua Garden Tian Tuan,” “Yixin Drama,” and “True Happiness Puppet Show.” Meanwhile, from now until August 25, the Dadaocheng Urs44 Base will also host an exhibition titled “Tracing Origins – The Deities of Xia Hai City God Bring Blessings.” The Department of Commerce will hold a series of Qixi-themed events in the Qingguang/Circle Mountain commercial districts from August 4 to 11.

For those planning to watch the fireworks, two new shuttle bus lines—Routes 135 and 136—have been added this year. They will run from 17:00 to 23:00, with departures every 4–6 minutes, and tickets are sold per segment. Route 135 runs between Taipei Main Station and Zhongxing Hospital, while Route 136 shuttles between Shuanglian MRT Station and Dadaocheng Wharf. Event website: 2013fireworks.taipeitravel.net.
