Japan has always been a top travel destination for Taiwanese, and the recent depreciation of the yen has further increased interest in various Japanese cities. Starting September 26, TransAsia Airways will officially launch its Taipei Taoyuan–Tokyo Narita route. This is the ninth Japanese destination opened by TransAsia Airways since the liberalization of air services between Taiwan and Japan, and Tokyo is the first northeastern Asian capital city the airline has flown to. With TransAsia Airways joining the market, travelers between the two regions can look forward to more diverse options for business and tourism, meeting a wider range of travel needs.

The TransAsia Airways Taipei Taoyuan–Tokyo route will be operated using either the A320, which can accommodate 150 passengers, or the A321, which seats 182. There will be one round-trip flight per day. The flight departs Taoyuan at 8:10 a.m. and arrives in Tokyo at 12:20 p.m. local time. The return flight leaves Tokyo Narita Airport at 1:20 p.m. and arrives back in Taoyuan at 3:45 p.m., with a flight duration of about 3 hours and 10 minutes. Leaving Taipei in the morning and having lunch in Tokyo by noon, along with an evening to rest upon returning before the next work or school day, makes this morning-departure, afternoon-return itinerary ideal for office workers and families planning trips.
To celebrate the official launch and show appreciation to its passengers, TransAsia Airways is offering special promotions on tickets and group tours. Travelers departing before October 15 can enjoy round-trip economy class fares starting from NT$9,000 (excluding tax, 14-day ticket validity). In addition, TransAsia Airways has partnered with seven authorized travel agencies to offer group tour packages starting from NT$21,900 (excluding tax) for a 5-day, 4-night trip.
