Recently, road running has become increasingly popular. In addition to running events held all over Taiwan, the first-ever color run in Taiwan has attracted a large number of participants eager to sign up. But do running enthusiasts still limit themselves to city road runs on asphalt? The 2013 Amphibia Mountain-and-Sea Cross-Country Trail Run will kick off on November 3, featuring a 13.8K Amphibian Extreme category and an 8.3K Trail Challenge category, with elevation gains ranging from 280 to 410 meters. The route includes beaches and rocky shores, allowing runners to challenge their limits on diverse terrains while also enjoying the charm of Toucheng’s coastline in Yilan and experiencing the mountainous freshness of the Lanyang region. This makes the run not just a test of self but also a lot of fun.

The 2013 Amphibia Mountain-and-Sea Trail Run uses chip timing so that participants can monitor their own performance, not only challenging themselves but also motivating each other. Based on individual fitness levels, the event is divided into an 8.3-kilometer Trail Challenge category and a 13.8-kilometer Amphibian Extreme category. Both start from the beach in front of the Yilan Brun Coffee Outer Australia Store, taking runners through a variety of terrains including sandy beaches, rocky shores, mountain trails, and forest paths—offering a fresh running experience that combines the sport with nature. From the coast to the mountain trails and forest paths, participants can enjoy Taiwan’s natural mountain ecology and ever-changing terrain.
With Yilan as the main host location, adjacent to the Pacific Ocean, Toucheng features a landscape of mountains facing the sea. The race route is designed to transition from the naturally spectacular coastal paths to the rugged mountain and forest trails, offering greater challenges for athletes and testing runners’ adaptability to amphibious routes.
