Want to experience the thrill of soaring above the clouds? The small airplane window just doesn’t cut it anymore. The Sea of Clouds Platform at Tomamu Resort in Hokkaido lets you get up close and personal with the sea of clouds and waterfalls. What makes this Sea of Clouds Platform truly special is its altitude of around 1,000 meters, where you can closely witness the spectacular sight of the sea of clouds surging. The best time to view it is at dawn, around 6 or 7 in the morning, when you can see a vast white blanket gradually revealing the Hidaka and Tokachi mountain ranges emerging from the mist.

Since opening last summer, visitors can take a cable car with a single ticket directly to the platform. Please note that depending on weather conditions, the sea of clouds may not be visible or the platform may be closed. Visitors planning to go are advised to call the Unkai Dail hotline or check the official website of Tomamu Resort for the day’s operating status and the probability of seeing the sea of clouds.
