International Fireworks Display Contest
Since 1988, the Macau Government Tourism Office has invited renowned fireworks companies from around the world to participate in an annual competition. The fireworks are launched over Nam Van Lake, so no matter where you watch from, the beautiful displays are clearly visible. The most popular viewing spot is the Chapel of St. Paul on Mount Fortress, which is closest to Nam Van Lake and situated at a high elevation, making it a favorite among visitors.

Macau International Music Festival
The “Macau International Music Festival,” which began in 1987, presents a different musical theme each year, including opera, symphony, Chinese folk music, jazz, ballet, and more. It is arguably Asia’s premier music event. In addition to the stellar performances, the selection of venues is also exceptional. To make the shows even more vibrant, organizers arrange performances at historic outdoor landmarks such as the Ruins of St. Paul’s, Lou Lim Ieoc Garden, the Chapel of St. Dominic, and the Dom Pedro V Theatre—all of which have received high praise in the past. The Macau government spares no expense in hosting the International Music Festival to ensure that everyone can enjoy high-caliber musical performances, so ticket prices are very affordable, and many shows are even free.
