The Kyoto area of Japan, which was hit by Typhoon Khanun a few days ago, has seen most businesses reopen after days of cleanup, with local tourist traffic returning to its former vibrancy. Travelers planning to visit Kyoto for autumn foliage need not worry about their itineraries being affected. However, under the Togetsukyo Bridge in Arashiyama, which nearly got engulfed by floodwaters during the storm, the area remains muddy, and it will take some time to restore its pre-disaster beauty.

Arashiyama in Kyoto, a renowned destination for autumn foliage, was hit by typhoon rains and storms, but just the day after the waters receded, numerous tourists had already flocked to the area. During the storm, the Togetsukyo Bridge in Arashiyama remained unscathed, though the mud and debris beneath it still need to be cleared. Meanwhile, Nanzenji Temple, which suffered from landslides, has been vigorously cleaned up. Locals hope to soon showcase Arashiyama’s original beauty of autumn maple leaves to the world.

Nanzenji Temple is a structure from Japan's Kamakura period, notable for its grand and imposing style, filled with the simple yet vibrant spirit of Zen Buddhism. From the Nanzenji Temple approach to the mountain gate, the path is lined almost entirely with shops sporting yudofu (tofu hot pot) signs. When visiting in autumn, you can find a restaurant with a courtyard, enjoy the famous yudofu while admiring the maple trees swaying gracefully in the sunlight.
